A golf experience where we truly play the land. Our signature course was designed by Jorge Santana da Silva, who followed a sustainable vision to complement and enhance the natural landscape. Weaving around ancient rivers and trees that have stood for generations, it has achieved the standards of golf’s most prestigious ecolabel certifications and created a naturally diverse setting for a truly memorable round of golf. To protect the rich natural biodiversity that surrounds us, we have minimized the use of natural resources and built on less than a quarter of the total resort area, with the greens and fairways of our golf course designed to blend seamlessly into the environment surrounding them by repopulating indigenous tree and plant species. The course has been woven around ancient rivers and trees that have stood for generations, which has led to our golf course being recognized with the GEO Foundation certification.

Within the natural amphitheater of the Bay of Lagos, Robert Trent Jones II has fashioned Europe’s next great golf course, Palmares Golf. The brief given to this exceptional American golf course designer was to craft a 27-hole golf course which maximized the potential of its extraordinary environment. The result is a golf course of breathtaking natural beauty which is a delight to play.

The South Course is the crown jewel of Quinta do Lago. Designed in 1974 by William Mitchell, who introduced American-standard greens, tees and bunkers to the Algarve. Soon the course gained a prestigious reputation and became a flagship in the European Tour Course. A favorite among European tour players, the 6,500-meter par 72 is set among umbrella pines, lakes and wild flowers, overlooking the serene Ria Formosa Natural Park.

South Course has hosted the Portuguese Open eight times, including Colin Montgomerie’s win in 1989. Having won 24 under par, he finished 11 strokes ahead and broke the world record with a round of 63.

Its championship status, however, does not deter the amateur golfer. While the 8th, 15th and 18th are testing holes for low handicap players, the course’s varying difficulty challenges golfers of all levels and abilities. Accurate tee shots are essential for reaching the greens, as the variety of doglegs and strategically located hazards increases the course’s difficulty. The front nine holes, which wind their way through the parkland, favor a draw, while the back nine, which loop around the lake, favor a fade from the tea.

In the heart of Vilamoura lies the Grande Dame of Algarve courses, Dom Pedro Old Course Golf Club. As one of the first-established layouts in the region, the Frank Pennink - design is well regarded throughout the golfing world.

Inaugurated in 1997, the Royal Golf Course was designed by top American golf architect Rocky Roquemore, based on the original drawings of Sir Henry Cotton. Recognized as one of Portugal’s most prestigious golf courses, its features include the almost island green of the 9th and the famous 16th, with cliff-top carryover – one of the most photographed holes in Europe and most celebrated golfing images in the world.

Nestled within the Ria Formosa Natural Park, the impressive 18-hole course at Quinta da Ria spans 660,000 m² of gently sloping terrain leading towards the Ria Formosa. San Lorenzo Golf Course was opened in 1988 amidst a range of exceptional natural surroundings that stretch from the edge of Quinta do Lago, through the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and out to the Atlantic Ocean. The picturesque setting features a host of towering pine woods that open up to spectacular sea views and distant mountain backdrops; as well as offering a beautiful habitat for over 70 bird species, including herons, hoopoes, white storks, coots, black-winged stilts and the rare purple gallinule. The course itself is laid out in a delicate figure of eight, at the heart of which lies the San Lorenzo Clubhouse, a golf pro shop, comfortable changing facilities and a welcoming bar and restaurant.
