The par-72 layout offers an array of natural landscapes as it winds its way through varied terrain. As well as featuring a number of plateaus which offer exceptional views of the Mediterranean Sea between typical Andalusian hills, several holes are in a valley with large lakes and narrow fairways.

Providing the perfect complement to the Links course, the Heathland provides a good test to golfers of all abilities.

The Links course boasts one of the best views in Spain, overlooking the Mediterranean. In 2021, it underwent a profound transformation, being redesigned by Kurtis Bowman . Links has been transformed into a modern and sustainable golf course. The renovation of the new Links has involved the remodeling of all its tees, greens, and bunkers. The redesign of several of its holes includes one of the largest greens in Spain. It is a challenging course , with unique views and a quality layout on par with the best courses in Europe. It is made up of wide fairways, double greens, large strategically placed bunkers, and gentle slopes that descend toward the sea , ending at a beautiful beach and creating a frontage of almost 2 km. Many of its holes border the beach.

With wide, sweeping fairways, large greens, gentle but challenging undulations and tricky water features, La Reserva is a must-play for any golfer visiting Southern Spain.

Officially opened in 1964,  Real Club de Golf Sotogrande was the first course Robert Trent Jones designed in Europe and is blessed with his design philosophy, which consists of building courses perfectly integrated with the natural surroundings. It offers long tees, wide fairways and elevated greens delicately molded and very fast, which embody the biggest difficulty of the course. Of the 100 or so bunkers on the course, 69 are placed around the greens, which warn the player to have great accuracy when attacking the pins. The variety of holes is another characteristic of this course; variety not only in shape and distances, but in its vegetation: the mixture of cork oaks, pine trees, palm trees and an abundance of other species provides the course with a wonderful personality and beauty.

A round of golf on Real Club de Golf Sotogrande is very well balanced. On the front 9 holes 4 and 7 will highlight good examples of the risk factor which Trent Jones rewards by asking the players to choose whether a hole should be a difficult par or an easy bogey. These can also be said of holes 13 and 15 on the back 9.
