One of Carolina’s minor league baseball team, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, experienced an unprecedented increase in attendance after undergoing reconstruction and renovation of the BB & T Coastal Field. New amenities such as brand new grill stand, installation of flat screen TVs and additional bleacher seats have made a good impact on the fans. The new bleachers beyond the left field wall give them the distinction of being the only team in the Carolina League with seats behind the wall. With the field’s total revamp, they added a “Pelicans Beach,” a seating option like none other in professional sports complete with sand, beach chairs, lifeguard posts, and a private tiki bar that became a local and guest favorite.
