The large bent grass greens are very receptive to approach shots making club selection important. Once you have reached the greens, you'll find some of the best bent grass putting surfaces in southern Arizona. Experience for yourself, the purest greens around. |

Forty Niner Country Club, a William Francis Bell-designed classic, is an established club on the eastern side of Tucson. The semi-private facility is inviting to golfers of all skill levels with the traditional layout and gently rolling terrain which allows members the option to walk the course. Nestled between the Catalina and Rincon Mountains, the course meanders along a wooded riverbed with fairways lined by mature trees and native desert shrubbery. The golf course provides a visually inviting 18-hole course layout while providing a solid challenge for all players. Recent course renovations have only improved an already outstanding experience.
Superb course management is the key to scoring well at Forty Niner Country Club. Direction off the tee and shot placement are paramount above distance when embracing the dogleg holes on the course. If a player is able to master their tee ball, they will have a chance to find success on the slightly elevated greens. Mesquite, giant cottonwood, eucalyptus and weeping willow trees make their presence known along the course and add even more beauty to Forty Niner Country Club. After facing the course's most difficult hole early in the round, the par-four fifth hole, players have the chance to make up scoring ground on the inward nine. All in all, Forty Niner Country Club provides players with an enjoyably relaxed round of golf and should not be missed when in the Tucson area. |

San Ignacio Golf Club is a 6,704-yard, par-71 Arthur Hills-designed course that is located just 20 minutes south of Tucson, Arizona, in Green Valley. It sits nestled between the Santa Rita and Tumacacoris mountain ranges at 3,000 feet elevation, providing for a spectacular and challenging desert-golf destination. The course's beauty is further enhanced by Santa Catalina and Rincon mountains, which rise in the distance, giving players even more breathtaking views as they make their way around the tranquil tract of holes.
When Arthur Hills sculpted the course into the area's natural canyons, he was able to utilize the existing topography and create dramatic elevation changes throughout the layout. Each fairway is defined by the natural landscape and abundance of mesquite trees giving each hole a feeling of privacy. As the fairways make their way up to multi-tiered greens, your view will open up to some of the best putting surfaces in southern Arizona. Strategic pin placement on the multi-tiered greens gives players a different experience every time they tee it up at San Ignacio.
Considered by some to be "the best little golf secret in Arizona," San Ignacio offers a number of holes that could easily be designated as "signature" in nature. Included in that group is a stretch of holes from the 12th through the 18th, along with a trio of holes on the front nine, including the 1st, 8th and 9th. But, the 522-yard, par-five 13th hole claims the "signature" honor. The tee box sits high above the water-guarded fairway below, giving you full view of the challenge that lies ahead. This risk-reward hole has all the elements of a fantastic golf hole and keeps our guests coming back time and time again. |

The 18-hole Canada course is a 6,713-yard par 72 with a rating of 72.2 and a slope of 140. The greens were renovated in the summer of 2000, but retains the charm and challenge of high-desert golf popular for over a decade. The natural terrain comes into play as fairways wind through ravines and arroyos. The challenge of this course is in the proper club selection. Many golfers prefer the Canada course because it demands a good deal of strategy, requiring a player to use every club. There's a lot of variety on Canada - with considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes from the tee to the green. There are many birdie opportunities on the par 4's, but the risk may outweigh the reward for some golfers.
The signature hole is the 183-yard 8th hole, considered by many to be the toughest par 3 in Tucson. Players drive uphill along a narrow ridge and aim between two towering Saguaro cacti just 40 yards out from the tee box. The green is surrounded by natural desert that falls into canyons on either side of the green. Both the 4th and 5th holes begin from elevated tee boxes surrounded by cacti, which give the player the opportunity to experience "target golf". Players must hit strong; well-executed tee shots on these par 4's to land the ball in these narrow fairways.

The resort's premier course, the 18-hole Conquistador is a 6,801-yard par 71 with a rating of 72.7 and a slope of 126. Recently renovated, the course provides an exceptional golf experience for all skill levels. The re-shaped fairways and greens create an exceptionally playable course. The new 419 Tiffway hybrid Bermuda turf allows for better lies on the fairways and Tiff Eagle on the greens produces truer and quicker putts. The new landscaping adjacent to the fairways means the desert rarely comes into play except as a beautiful backdrop for every round. The course offers a variety of short par 5's and long par 4's with dramatic mountain views and elevation changes.
The 5th hole is a 541-yard par 5 with a lake and bunkers protecting the two-tiered green. Two long woods will allow the player an opportunity to get home in two. But a head wind will typically prevail, and hinder most opportunities to eagle the hole. The back 9 includes two par 5's with birdie potential, but heavy bunkering challenges players. The signature hole is #16, providing memorable views of Pusch Ridge while trying to avoid any of the 16 strategically placed bunkers.

It is considered by some to be the best-kept secret in Arizona golf. Sporting a 175-foot change in elevation from start to finish, this par 35 layout is not to be taken lightly. It makes full use of the ravines and ridges in the mountain desert, as well as indigenous cacti and trees, such as saguaro, ocotillo, mesquite and palo verde. While it may serve as a warm-up for the two championship courses at the El Conquistador Golf Club, Pusch Ridge provides challenging play for all skill levels.
Dramatic elevation changes, small greens and the signature 380-yard 5th hole make for memorable rounds. The 5th hole is a par 4 surrounded by water with a walkway to an island green. The hole is considered one of the most scenic in Tucson and draws a variety of local wildlife, including blue heron and javelinas. |
