Since 1959, golf enthusiasts have enjoyed two of Ellis Maples' finest works. Set in the rolling Sandhills of Pinehurst, North Carolina and surrounded by majestic pines and native grasses, the quality of golf is enhanced by the area's natural beauty. Ellis Maples mastered his craft under the watchful eye of the legendary Donald Ross and soon branched out to create some of top golf courses in the state. The East course, finished in 1962, is an Ellis Maples classic. You can see the Donald Ross influence in the way Maples followed the natural contours of the land, the position of the sand traps and shaping of the greens. |
